Behavioral research proves time and time again that our own
emotions get in the way of rational decision making. Of course, that’s not a big surprise. Everyone knows they should do
something, but that doesn’t mean they will do something.
The non-monetary example of this is smoking. Everybody knows smoking is bad for you, yet
many people still do it.
Knowing that your own emotions get in the way is step one to
not letting them get in the way. It
doesn’t mean be unemotional, but simply understanding that emotions can affect
decision making will lead to better decisions.
