We don't know what we don't know...

I was on Quora recently looking through some of the personal finance questions. And while I'm not active on that site, I do answer sometimes. But I am always interested in reading other answers to gauge what is out there.

It's not always clear what expertise the responders have though I'd like to think they are trying to be helpful. But I see a lot of flat out INCORRECT answers. Not just based on my opinion, but are just factually wrong.

Unfortunately, these mistakes can cost us a lot of money. But these mistakes can also prevent us from getting the proper help.

Here's a list of "bad" advice, though most of these address popular, yet incorrect "myths" - especially #6.

How many of these have you heard?
